Each year VIPP places about 200 cats and dogs in homes on Vashon and returns about 90 cats and dogs back to their owners. So much of what we do depends on people in the community and the willingness to adopt rescued animals. We appreciate you coming to us when looking for a new pet and the animals “really” appreciate it.
As you look through our animals available for adoption -you will see that many of them are found cats that were never claimed. VIPP goes to extremes to try and find the owners of these animals by running an ad in the paper; putting up posters in the neighborhood; listing the animal on the website as well as on our interactive Vashon Map of lost and found cats and dogs. After all these avenues are exhausted and no owner comes forward – the animals are spayed or neutered if not already, tested, de-wormed, de-flea’d and vaccinated. They are given food, shelter, love and attention until they can find a new home. http://vimeo.com/34170899
VIPP is happy to talk with you about adopting a pet for your loving home. It is so important to find the right animal that fits the way you live so it can become a real member of the family. The volunteers spend a lot of time with our adoptable campanions, so they know much about the needs, personality, likes and dislikes, etc of each animal. By asking the right questions, they can hopefully find the perfect pet for you. For more detailed information on our adoption policies and fees, please refer to the menu on the left.
Volunteer Marc Pease made this sweet video about a couple of adopted VIPP kitties – enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKEo76WljPE&feature=g-upl
Thank you for considering to rescue an animal.
